 I realize today, that our society discriminates against the poor, it causes injustice to the individual. I realize that the poor will be with us always, and being a social worker address issues of poverty that I will have to take into account when dealing with my clients. Hoping there will be more resources that will meet the need of my new clients, I will always treat them with dignity and respect.  Being poor is not a crime, it is a status.

Objective #6:  Understand and appreciate the history of the social work profession in the context of contemporary social policy and practice and utilize this knowledge to inform practice.

 I chose this topic because people have always fought for human rights and I too believe that all people should have the same equal rights as others.  Through my learning experiences at UTC, I have learned that people can only change what they have power to change and sometimes their situations.  I would love to be an advocate for the poor who have no voice.
